Growth hacking is the process of short and fast marketing sprints. Of course, the mindset, drive and knowledge are the most important tools that a growth hacker can have. Fortunately, many growth hacking tools exist to simplify the process. In this article, I’ll give you 22 growth hacking tools that might make your life a bit easier.
In my opinion, Active campaign is the most complete email service provider out there. In addition to an extensive email function, you also have many other options such as a CRM system, landing page builder, chat system and much more.
With detailed overviews about your visitors, open rate, close rate and bounce rate, you can really get started as a growth hacker.
If you are an e-commerce company, there is a good alternative to Active Campaign, namely Drip. According to Drip, they are the “go to” when it comes to email service providers for the e-com business.
I myself regularly use it when I simply only need to keep track of e-commerce stuff. Active campaign, on the other hand, is much more extensive.
The latest in the series of email service providers is Aweber, one of the oldest players in the field of growth hacking tools in the field of email.
Aweber was the tool you used, next to Mailchimp. For a long time they lagged behind in development and new tools such as Active Campaign and Drip overtook them. However, Aweber has recovered well and also belongs in this list of top 30 tools.
My “all time favorite” when it comes to landing page builders. I have been working with this for about 4 years and I am sold. The simplicity of this website builder for WordPress is gigantic.
There is a free version that can get you really far, but for only € 49 per year you have the pro version for 3 websites. This version offers many times more possibilities.
If you come across a website of mine, including this one, it was made with Elementor, but also websites of my customers such as this one from Dock Four was made with Elementor.
The only drawback I can think of is the fact that you must have knowledge of building a WordPress website.
If you are not looking to build a Worpdress website or if you are not able to do this, then a ready-made landing page system such as lead pages is ideal. Even if you want to create simple and fast landing pages in addition to your standard website, an LP tool like this is ideal.
With lead pages you can easily create landing pages, including pop-ups, and link them to your analytics, email service provider, chat system and more.
With hundreds of templates for lead websites, sales funnels and webinar funnels, you can do a lot with lead pages.
Are you looking for something more than just an LP builder, but you don’t feel like having to build a complete website, then Inbounce is for you. I hardly use it myself, purely because I want to have more control with a tool like Elementor.
However, Unbounce is highly regarded in the world of growth hackers.
It is a very comprehensive tool that is perfect for building LPs and funnels.
The cry you hear when talking about funnels and LPs is Clickfunnels by the American Russel Brunson. Clickfunnels is a company you either love or find really annoying.
It’s very American. The style of promoting, building landing pages, and building the triggers of scarcity and fear.
However, you also see in the Netherlands that this shift is increasingly taking place.
However, Clickfunnels is a platform that provides everything you need to build landing pages. It lets you build a perfect flow including an email provider (included), an e-learning platform (included) and various payment providers.
Because it is an American company, there is 1 disadvantage, they do not have iDeal payment, but solutions can be found for that.
Customer Relationship Management tools are indispensable if you want to do growth hacking. Of course you can just keep an Excel file, but if it contains more than 50 contacts, you will really notice the benefits of CRM tools.
One of the most comprehensive is Hubspot. A tool that tops the list when it comes to these CRM tools.
Hubspot is more than just a CRM tool, however. It is also a landing page builder, an email service provider, a sales tool, a chat system on your website and much more.
Because it is so extensive, you will also notice this in the price and the disadvantage of Hubspot is that you cannot simply use the CRM tool alone.
Okay, not quite correct. The free version allows for that, but once you have to draw your CC, they immediately debit substantial amounts.
Difficult to indicate because there are so many different options. In any case, there is a free version.
Are you looking for a pure CRM tool, then Pipedrive is a nice alternative to Hubspot, which is many times cheaper. Pipedrive is very easy to use, you can easily create forms and fill your CRM with potential customers, or leads.
Packed with automatic follow ups (emails), automation builders and add-ons regarding forms and chatbots, this CRM is very worthwhile. In many cases this is my choice over a CRM like Hubspot.
When you say growth hacking, you say data. If you say data, you say Google analytics.
The free program from Google itself to keep track of all your data. An indispensable tool to keep track of your data and to integrate growth hacking into your company. However, many companies don’t do it because they really can’t figure it out at all.
Logical, because you can really do a lot with it. The basics, however, are quite simple and well worth the effort.
Google analytics is free
Are you getting weird about all the codes you have to implement on your site? Me too…
Tag manager is the way to eliminate this. You paste the tag manager code on your website and this is the only code you paste on your website. Then you can arrange everything in the Tagmanager interface.
Google tag manager is free
Indispensable in the life of a growth hacker is the visualization of the data. Many CEOs you do business with do not understand Excel files and charts, so you want to present it in a fun and playful way.
If you want to use Google data studio for other apps like Google’s, you need an external connector. One of those external connectors is Supermetrics.
With these tools you can easily connect apps such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Excel files, databases and more.
So if you want to visualize more than just Google Analytics, and you want that, then you need an external tool like Supermetrics.
With the advent of the datasheets and how important they are, there will of course be apps on the market that claim that they have an all-in-one solution. One of the tools that I myself use for this (although it is really not an all-in-1 solution for analytics) is Morphio.
Morphio in particular links your paid apps such as Google ads and Social media advertising to keep you informed about your ad spend, your CPC, CPA, ROAS, POAS and so on.
One player that has been on the market many times longer is Opteo. This tool helps you optimize your ads on both social media and Google / Bing policies.
The future of marketing if you ask me, along with email marketing, is the chat systems. One of these systems that has been on the market for a very long time is Live Chat. A nice and comprehensive chat service, including chatbot (if you select the right plan).
In my opinion there are more and more chat systems and also chat systems that pass Livechat. So it says Appsumo or Dealify every week full of nice deals of chat systems that you can use, including Dutch systems.
Are you looking for a Dutch company, then Watermelon is for you. A complete chat service with the advantage that you can link it with tools that we are used to in the Netherlands, such as email service providers and payment systems.
Watermelon is strong in providing statistics, but also comes with a chatbot, live chat and integrations with Mollie (iDeal)
When it comes to SEO tools, they all come down to the same thing. It is more the interface that appeals to you or not and of course the price. I have used and deployed many tools in recent years and below I give you an overview of the tools that I recommend, starting with my favorite.
Obviously there are a lot more than just these. If you take a look at the Martech 5000, the list of all marketing tools, it already stands at just under 9000 tools. Indeed, it is time they changed their name.
